Hello Folks, seven more gone and a new month. We’ve had our first snow here in the northeast, and there’s a lot more where that came from. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are supposed to be mild though. We’ll see. Well, I hope you Folks have made up your mind who you’re gonna vote for as I hear they’re not using the blindfolds and dartboards this time around. Eeny-Meeny-Miney-Mo is not being allowed either. Well, I made up my mind who I’m voting for. I was able to decide which candidate I liked the least fairly early on. It will be a historic election any way it shakes out. I’m just hopin’ the next 4 years will be better than the last 6 months or so. Be sure to vote though, a lot of Folks have paid the price for your right to make your choice. It sure will be interesting, that’s for sure. Let’s get down to some serious history, shall we?

Wilbur Wright flies 4.43 kilometers (2.75 miles) at Dayton. This is the first flight of more than 5 minutes.

4 November 1913
French engineer Constantin patents a vented wing. The blade placed before the leading edge of the wing improves airflow.

6 November 1915
The first aeroplane to be catapult-launched from an moving ship is a Curtiss AB2 flying-boat piloted by Lieutenant Commander Henry Mustin, launched from the battleship USS North Carolina at Pensacola Bay in Florida.

3 November 1916
Victor Carlstrom completes the first flight from Chicago to New York in a Curtiss R. biplane. Carrying airmail, the flight lasts 8 hours 28 minutes and en route, Carlstrom sets United States records for non-stop distance (452 miles) and speed (134 mph) flying.
